DANDEMONIUM

Writing

Guest Writing
Hex Lip
by Adrian Dannatt

Abridged I’d guess
& polished cement
set (to music) into
a single slab of blue-
white marble, veined.

Marble as Tennyson
adjusted to our gutter
purpose, repurposed
as if by petals
& rosewater
stain he began
as if to sing,
a suture
fissured, polished,
petals again, rain.

twin train with visible escapement
striking on a bell
pendulum’s mercury

seamless bidding
thus
and uttered
through
dark corridors
to hush
of a dying Lord
our Lord at Last.
